The New Montague is a celebration of queerness and identity within context of real and reimagined histories. Working with models Lia Bass and Yaa, they give clear evidence of romantic queer history to best counter collective memory's covert and forgotten. Yaa is our contemporary Juliet and Lia is the New Montague—a mixture of the Romeo of a historical moment and the Romeo of modernity. 
For Georden West, this series is in discussion with the John William Waterhouse paintings of her childhood, which were celebrated within her family system as representative of romanticized historical romance but pieces of art she could never situate herself in as a queer woman.
